Weekly Workout - Scene Study
We all know that no matter what our skill or level of acting, there’s always room for growth and improvement. To that end, professionally-trained and or experienced actors are invited to join a weekly workshop for an acting workout – ideal for those who want to keep their acting muscles flexed, develop their skills, and deepen their understanding of character creation and development. The aim is to provide a safe environment for actors to learn, grow and practice their craft; free to experiment and take risks without repercussions for the sake of expanding their acting repertoire. Members are actively encouraged to engage in new experiences, and continually seek to stretch and improve themselves as artists in the pursuit of excellence.
The workshop will run in six week sessions. In fairness to scene partners, actors must commit to the full six weeks (unless otherwise previously arranged), and are free to continue on with the next six week session under the same conditions. The workshops will be kept small in order to devote maximum time to each group of actors. Focus will be on master playwrights who’s works are complete with complex characters, rich backstories, and interesting plots. Since no one technique works for every person, experimentation with various methods will be explored.
What to Expect:
We will all read two plays then work on various scenes from the chosen plays. Each participant will have one scene partner and one scene for the duration of the session.
Every week a new person from the group will facilitate the workshop. The facilitators will be chosen once we know the configuration of the group as a whole.
We meet 1x weekly every Wednesday.
